The project for the rehabilitation of Largo Garibaldi and Via Aldo Moro affects the heart of the city center, the main “square”, where the major events of the city life take place, such as the evening walk and gathering and the weekly market.
It aims to significantly expand the pedestrian area; the decision to create a one-way road to enter Via Aldo Moro has allowed to regain spaces previously occupied only by cars, for the benefit of sustainability on human scale.
The main aspects of the intervention are the new paved floor with traditional lime flagstones, placed following a modern design and integrated with lawns, a new LED light system, the urban furniture and new trees integrating the existing ones have enhanced and enlarged the square on joining the old centre and the Capuchin monastery. Work valued at € 1.418.748,20.
it is one of the interventions of the Contratto di quartiere II “San Domenico and historical centre” financed by regional and ministerial funds after complex selection procedure as complex program that involves a complex system of experimental works including underground car parks, green areas, new roads and squares, ERP housing at official prices, for a total initial investment of over 30 million euros, of public and private investment for the realization of public works.
