municipality of Locorotondo (Ba)
Description:
the realization of an underground car park and the requalification with the urban design of Piazza Aldo Moro represent a significant intervention in a small town like Locorotondo. They have pursued two main goals: to regenerate the asphalted square in front of the town hall, once used as a chaotic parking, and use of the underground space for a public parking of 100 cars once warehouse rarely used.
Therefore a new square has been designed with the recovery of the same trees (green oaks), the installation of an artistic fountain with an essential architectural design in tune with the simple facade of the City Hall and in complete harmony with the surrounding centre.
The underground car park has been organized on two floors and four offset levels in order to minimize the excavation; services and technical slopes to the square level, have been designed to minimize the visual impact, even using glass elements. The project has given a new life to spaces once amorphous. Work valued at € 1.895.000,00
Characteristics:
this intervention, planned in the Strategic Plan of Area Vasta “Valle d’Itria”, one of the ten ones financed by PO FESR 2007/2013 – Asse VII, part of the first Programma Stralcio, represent a part of a larger pilot project for the promotion of leading territory assets (caves, trulli, sea, …), funded with about 24 million euro in total.
