municipality of Mola di Bari (Ba)
the requalification of the urban sea front north side – 1st functional lot has concerned around 600 metres of urban waterfront in the most delicate area, the one between the urban centre and the sea, just outside the commercial and fishing port with the imposing Angevine castle in the middle.
The complete redesign, with the international collaboration of MBM Arquitectes of Oriol Bohigas, has changed the town image creating a modern promenade where green spaces, car parks, roads, pedestrian and cycle paths, stop areas and open air spaces are perfectly integrated. A theatre enriches the area down the castle and together represent a unique and majestic scenery.
The lights with the original Bohigas design, the striped concrete floor, the new majestic palms, the seats and the articulation of the sea works on one side and the concrete floor that projects the urban fabric to the coast on the other, are the main elements of this work of international dimension. Work valued at € 5.530.000,00.
realized within the European program PIC URBAN II, aiming to gain the urban, social and economic regeneration and promoting a urban sustainable development. It is one of the only 10 Italian cases (together with cities like Milan, Turin and Genoa).
