works for the functional improvement of the entrance area of the caves and new development of the square and the external access ways.
In order to improve the reception of visitors coming from the main access roads, a new system of roads with decorated roundabouts has been designed and an abandoned building has been recovered for the making of a visitor center.
A shaded and protected area has been realized between the car park and the entrance to the caves. The aim is to prepare visitors to the beauty of the site, waiting for the visit, admiring stylized patterns on internal and external glasses and evocative pictures of the caves on “barrisol” panels.
The ceiling and the light system, with cylindrical diffusers in opal glass, make the rooms essential and refined, emphasizing the images of the caves. The external area has been equipped with retractable shading systems and innovative irrigation systems type “geocycle” for recovery, storage and reuse of rainwater for irrigation of lawns.
